Literature Text

bone hands curled
lolling tongue
face half black
half-moon white
voice of crackling leaves
and wind
and secrets
pristine youthful beauty
and crisped crone intermixed
black robes furred
shimmering between rags and elegance
now raw, now fully formed
wolves at her feet
snakes
and lightning
in her hair
and at her throat
one eye
blink, blink
then two
two arms, now six and armed
instruments of Creatrix, Destructrix
I take my bitter tea
and my sweet
She asks if I want some wormwood
in a whisper as bitter as leaves
and bell-like sweet
I laugh
i'll get that soon enough
Mother
come to devour
my pain and my innocence
She murmurs
'He created you
but who Called you
at mystical thirteen
I watch over you
when your Father is busy'
I asked his location and vocation
her gaze was of frozen wildlands
silent
I Reached for the familiar
She said,
'you must learn
to stand on your own to feet'
the glittering knife
guillotine
severing
me
from my past
and setting me free
to carve my own destiny
I am an Osprey
I am Changing
it all melts away
and She extracts
everything
constraining
which no longer serves me
Mother Moirai
Fata and Queen of the Norns
spinning Clotho
Lachesis measuring
and unturnable Atropos slicing
a Thousand Blinks
a Thousand Faces
of Hekate commanding her Crossroads
no hint where I am going
as She incinerates me
as She buries me
brings me a portable crematoria
and incites my immolation
and delivers me to a Dreamless Sleep
