Literature Text

the golden arrow
slick straight swift
pricking in silence
flooding my heart in honeyed syrup
the molten gold of melted sunlight
sugaring my tongue
stealing breath and speech
and all eloquence
leaching my tongue to bone
struck soundless
every syllable under my fingertips
evaporating to mist
the sweetness squeezing my chest
until it is flooded bright
and my eyes smoke purple
my autism mechanics clench like a fist
so I grapple with symbols instead
before you believe you misstepped
i have never felt anything as intense
as that shuddering breath

Sensual imagery captures that chest-squeezing moment; "every syllable under my fingertips" -- exquisite.
